(The Center Square) – A coalition of 9/11 family members, first responders and elected officials on Tuesday urged New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani not to attend Friday's memorial marking the 25th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

In a press briefing on the steps of City Hall, survivors of those who lost family members and loved ones in the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks spoke one after one calling on the new mayor to skip the commemorations. Some cited Mamdani's previous rhetoric, and most said they didn't want the solemn ceremony to become a media circus.
