(The Center Square) – Elon University, powered in part by its Imagining the Digital Future Center, has brought together for higher education institutions and students several elements of research on artificial intelligence in the 21st century – some in conjunction with the American Association of Colleges and Universities, and The Princeton Review.
The Human Wisdom Toolkit for the Age of AI are free resources includes a field guide for students, classroom-ready teaching modules and a self-assessment tool for students.
While Stanford and its ties to Silicon Valley, Carnegie Mellon and its Robotics Institute, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology and its core AI theory and robotics study in the Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory grab more notice for artificial intelligence research institutions, Elon has carved its niche through the Imagining the Digital Future Center. It is an interdisciplinary research center “focused on the human impact of accelerating digital change and the socio-technical challenges that lie ahead.”
Originally established in 2000 as the Imagining the Internet, a 2024 rebrand came with funding and operations including Lee Rainie taking the role of director and scholar-in-residence. A partnership with Pew Research ended, though Elon continues to canvass global tech experts and publish reports in the “Future of Digital Life” series.

Ten human capacity pages in the Human Wisdom Field Guide have learning modules and workshops. There is no preferred order for the modules on curiosity, critical thinking, focused and deep thinking, creativity, emotional and social intelligence, communications, wisdom, ethics, adaptability, and self-identity.
Ten scenarios are presented in Human Wisdom for the Age of AI: Self-Assessment. A white paper and principles are available to “explore the intellectual framework” behind the Student Guide to AI.
Since the Student Guide to Artificial Intelligence series launched in 2024, more than 37,000 students at more than 4,700 colleges, universities, schools and organizations in more than 170 countries have adopted the publications.
