(The Center Square) — The U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit on Monday dismissed the U.S. Department of Justice’s request to force California election officials to segregate ballots cast by 20,000 voters suspected of being noncitizens.

The San Francisco court ruled that it doesn't have jurisdiction to consider the Trump administration's appeal of a U.S. District Court ruling against putting aside the ballots. It denied the Trump administration's emergency motion for relief.
