THE DALLES — Zion Lutheran Church will again host the annual eight-hour organ hymn marathon.
The fun starts when organist Garry Estep sits down in front of the console of the Phelps-d’Autremont organ at noon on Sunday, Oct. 27 (Reformation Sunday) and plays hymn requests until 8 p.m. Estep will play with vocal accompaniment before improvising on the hymn tune.
This fifth-annual event is free and open to the public to come and go as they see fit, with optional donations accepted at the door.
To submit a hymn request ahead of time, send an email to zion.office.manager@gmail.com with “Hymn Marathon” in the subject line. Specify your favorite hymn and what time you might want to enjoy it, and organizers will do their best to accommodate you. Requests are also open during the marathon.
A live stream will be available through Zion in The Dalles allowing a wider audience.
