CPR is the new champion team in the Tuesday Nite Mixed bowling league at Hood River’s Orchard Lanes. CPR won the championship in a four-team roll-off last week. Congratulations to the CPR crew, Sandy Holmes, Coral Worth, Dan Nakamura and Steve Silva. CPR finished the three game roll off with 2,814 pins topping Mad Skilz who had 2,705 pins, Double A Orchards with 2,681 pins and Taco Tuesday with 2,619 pins.
The breakout star for the CPR foursome was Dan Nakamura, who rolled his best series of the season, a cool 621 series on consistently good games of 213, 206 and 202. Dan ended up 114 pins over his average in the contest. He definitely came to play! That’s the way to come through and win the big one, Dan.
Here are the individual highlights for the season in the Mixed league: High average, men, Jeremy Bloom 220; high average, women, Nancy Asai 188; high series, men, Jeremy Bloom, 818; high series, women, Nancy Asai,677; high game, men, Jeremy Bloom, 300; and high game, women, Erin Salisbury, 258.
We want to take this opportunity to thank each and every one of you for bowling in this exciting league. We hope you had a good time. We sure did! We miss you already and hope you will return to bowl in this fun league next season. In the meantime, don’t become strangers, drop on in to say high, bowl a few games to stay sharp over the break and take part in the special challenge events that will be held this summer. Our challenge events will give you a different look on the lanes, with some easy and difficult oil patterns that will test your bowling skills. Can you cut the mustard on something besides an easy house shot?
The 72nd annual Hood River City Bowling Tournament was conducted at Orchard Lanes last week so there was no league action in the Monday night Industrial or Wednesday night Fraternal. These leagues will resume this week and we’ll have the results of the city tournament next week.
Wednesday afternoon senior Colts & Fillies league:
The seniors are still playing leapfrog for the league lead in the second half of the Colts and Fillies. Skamaniacs moved back into first place with 28 points after a 4-0 sweep of the lowly Rolling Pins. We Tried and Cousins are tied for second with 27 points. Jesse’s Team and 2 Pair are tied for fourth with 25 points. We’ve still got four more weeks to go in the second half, so the Gutter Gals and Rice Krispies, who are tied for seventh place with 22 points, are still in it. Any of these teams could easily win the second half.
Anne Brady and Jesse Flores had quite a duel last week. Jesse topped Anne 212 to 209, but Anne’s We Tried trio beat Jesse’s Team 3-1.
Dave Baumsteiger imitated the illustrious Reggie Jackson last week. Dave was clearly the straw that stirred the drink as he tossed mighty fine 202 and 201 games to lead his Skamaniacs gang to the 4-0 whitewashing of the Rolling Pins. Dave finished his set 99 pins over his average, capping an excellent day on the lanes!
Awesome 3 took Gutter Gals 3-1 despite the best efforts of Gals star Rod Pratt’s 201 game.
Rice Krispies got swamped by 2 Pair in the first two games of their match, but Tony Teschner and Lynn Spellman found nirvana in the third game. Lynn notched a huge 258 and Tony followed closely behind with a nifty 233. Those big finishes earned a 2-2 split in this match.
Thursday afternoon County league:
Not much change at the top in the County league. The Munsons team is still in first place with 26 points. The Holy Rollers are in second with 24 points. The Incredibowls and the Lady Ballers are tied for third place with 23 points.
This week features the final matches of the second half, so get ready for some fireworks! The key match this week pits the Holy Rollers against Lady Ballers. The outcome of this match could make it or break it for either of these teams.
Good scores in the County league last week included Pins in Low Places stars Melissa Werkheiser’s lofty 232 and Gordon Pillon’s fine 200 game that earned a 2-2 split with The Incredibowls who were once again led by golf nut and now bowling nut Yoyo Cervantes’ big 222 finish for the tie.
Another 2-2 split emerged in the match between The Munsons and BS-ers as Victor Flores and Jay Slack went at each other big-time. Victor crunched a solid 229 game for the BS-ers while Jay logged a spiffy 214 for The Munsons.
Go BOWLING everyone!
