Kiters and their gear will fill the sands, beaches and waters at Event Site and The Sandbar Friday through Sunday for the 10th annual Kiteboarding 4 Cancer event, part fundraiser, part community party, and part celebration of life. The money raised by athletes goes to Camp Koru: an adventure retreat program for both cancer fighters and survivors ages 18-39. Kickoff party starts at 8 p.m. Friday; main event Kite Derby at 10:30 a.m. Saturday (weather dependent); live music all afternoon. See www.hooodrivernews.com for details. Live and silent auctions on Saturday form a focal point of KB4C. Silent auction runs Saturday, and live auction and Boards of Hope will be at 6:15 p.m. This year’s live auction features a unique quilt by Kate McBride of Hood River.
