Josh Thompson memorial scoreboard

South Wasco County’s 2025 homecoming football game on Sept. 26 included a special pregame ceremony — the dedication of the Josh Thompson Memorial Scoreboard. Thompson was killed at age 45 in August 2024 when another vehicle crossed the center lane on Highway 197 and struck his pickup head-on. Thompson, of Tygh Valley, was a prominent member of the South Wasco community; he was a volunteer who served on the school board and supported youth in many ways. A graduate of The Dalles High School, Thompson also was a contributor in the fundraising project for the scoreboard (as well as many other causes for students). The new scoreboard is on a school building at the end of the football field and running track.
