HOOD RIVER — Hood River County School District (HRCSD) is seeking input from community members on proposed science instructional materials for grades K-12. HRCSD is hosting an event on Monday, April 15, at the Nathaniel Coe Administrative Center, 1011 Eugene St., from 6:30-7:30 p.m. for community members to review materials and share their comments with the selection committee. Spanish interpretation will be available.
The selection committee has been working since October 2023 to find instructional materials that align with equitable Science teaching practices. Teacher teams across the school district have been working hard to investigate new and innovative science materials. The committee is determined to find engaging materials that support the science standards while also offering hands-on experiences and experiments for students to explore science concepts.
After closely reviewing the materials, meeting with publishers, and gathering student and community feedback, the committee will make recommendations.
The committee’s charge is to ensure that every student has access to a high-quality curriculum that supports collaborative opportunities to implement culturally responsive instructional practices and evidence-based best practices in the field.
Materials can be viewed online until Tuesday, April 16, and feedback can be gathered digitally.
