Hood River Lions have invested funds and manpower to improve Jackson Park in Hood River.
This year’s project was to construct ADA parking, seating and new concrete walkways at the park.

Photo courtesy Mike Schend / Hood River Lions“Jackson Park, located in the center of Hood River, is a major gathering place and generates crowds of more than 2,000 for the Hood River Lions concert series called Families in the Park,” said Lion Mike Schend. “The park was not handicapped friendly, so the club this year took on making the park handicap accessible.”
The park now has two handicap parking spaces for vans and special seating for eight wheelchairs right next to the handicap accessible restrooms, as well as new concrete and blacktop paths. The club also added a concrete stairway from the parking lot into the park that includes lighted stairs steps.
