Myron Egbert identified July 10’s history mystery, a photo of several people displaying a sign for the 1962 Go Cart Races. They are sitting on a 1902 Studebaker Electric vehicle, now on display at Fort Dalles Museum, in The Dalles, for anyone to see. The photo is labeled “American Legion Go Cart Races,” and was possibly taken by a The Dalles Daily Chronicle photographer.

Egbert said the Harvey Aluminum company maintained the vehicle, outfitting it for the Fort Dalles Parade most years. It was still running strong in the 1960’s, when he worked there. The black-and-white negative of this photo is now item number 2018.32.1178, part of the George Lindsay Collection, at Columbia Gorge Discovery Center & Museum.
