On Nov. 27, the Glenwood school hosted a delicious Thanksgiving dinner for the students and their families. Once again, it was a great, festive time to spend with the Glenwood families. True to tradition, Mr. Demchuck led grades 2-5 singing rousing renditions of “She’ll Be Comin’ ‘Round the Mountain” and “Grandma’s Feather Bed.” It was a fun time for all and the kids were especially excited because they were dismissed right after the dinner to start their Thanksgiving break. We had three little girls here for the afternoon who were in high form, enjoying their “freedom” with no homework.
Have you seen how beautiful our little town is beginning to look with Christmas decorations going up? We only have the Glenwood Station and the Glenwood General Store, but they put in a lot of time to make our little town very bright over the holidays. Other homes are really looking nice, too. Don’t forget there’s a Christmas lights contest going on this year. The team of judges will be going around at some point, viewing all the beautiful lights on homes around the community and awarding a prize to the chosen winner. Glenwood will be looking very merry and bright this year.

The Glenwood Fire Department would like to let everyone know Santa will be visiting our community and taking a ride around the valley the evening of Dec. 11. That’s tonight. The fire department will honor Santa with a ride on a fire truck and they’ll depart the fire station at 5 p.m. The first stop will be the Glenwood Station. From there, they will head up Bird Creek Road, travel across Ladiges Road and down Lakeside Road to Troh Lane then across the BZ-Glenwood Highway to Hansen Road. The last leg will take them along Lake Road. They will return to the Glenwood Station by 6 p.m. You can be ready and waiting at your driveway if you live along the route or wait at the Glenwood Station for their departure or return. It’s great fun. And remember, don’t get Lakeside Road confused with Lake Road. There is a poster and route map on the Glenwood Fire Department Facebook page if you want to see the actual route for yourself.
Here’s an update on the middle school boys’ basketball games against Trout Lake here on Nov. 25. Our small Klickwood junior varsity was defeated in a tough game against the Trout Lake junior varsity, but they never gave up. We are so proud of their effort on the court. Our older middle school boys came on strong in the varsity game, soundly defeating Trout Lake by a score of 32-19. It was a great team effort by those Glenwood and Klickitat boys and had the crowd cheering loudly. Way to go, Little Klickwood. They had one more game on the Glenwood court Dec. 9 (results unavailable by press time).
