HOOD RIVER — With the support of local community partners at Gorge Ecumenical Ministries, Riverside Community Church will be hosting for a free Thanksgiving dinner for a tenth year. The dinner will be served in the scenic Riverview Room at Riverside Church, 317 State St., Hood River, from noon to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27. All are welcome.
“Please invite your family and friends or out of town guests to join in this meaningful time of food and community connection,” said Riverside Event Coordinator Kathryn Murray.
The Riverside Kitchen Team, led by local Chef Kathy Watson, will serve as many as 250 meals including turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, veggies and pumpkin pie. Much of the food has been procured and donated through Gorge Grown Food Network. Romul’s, as they have for many years, is donating all the turkeys. Other sponsors include Hood River Coffee, Ryan’s Juice and Boda’s Kitchen.
Local pianist Tom Kaser will play a variety of favorite tunes on the piano during the meal.
“We feel blessed to share in the bounty gifted to us by our precious Mother Earth. It’s a great gift to be able to feast together with a beautiful variety of Gorge residents — friends old and new,” said Riverside Pastor Vicky Stifter.
If you would like to make a financial contribution to support the event, please mail a check, payable to Riverside Community Church, PO Box 656, Hood River, OR 97031 with “Thanksgiving Meal” in the memo line.
