Eagles Speech and Debate going to State

HOOD RIVER — Some of the HRVHS Speech and Debate team has qualified to compete at the 2026 OSAA State Championship April 23–25, at Western Oregon State University. Practice resumes April 8 after Spring Break, for those going to State and preparing for next year. Ann McDonald, the coach, said that this is a great time for “interested new joiners to come and learn.”
The seniors that qualified are Sadie Henry and Julyssa Jiron for After Dinner Speaking, Adrianna Brink for Dramatic Interpretation, Fatima Banuelos and Bee Carsley for Poetry, Diego Ucan for Congressional Debate. Juniors representing HRV will be Everen Garrett with Congressional Debate, Noah Trujillo in Informative, Aneka Diem with Prose Reading, Tate Shays with Radio, Gillian Reed for Extemporanious Speaking, Tate Shays and Gillian Reed for Public Forum Debate, Skylar Nelson and Isaac Serrano as a junior/sophomore team for Duo Interpretation, sophomore Rylee Smith for Lincoln-Douglas Debate, and freshmen Sofia Mosqueda and Emily Fry for Duo Interpretation.
