Commentary: Beyond 250 event in Hood River on June 25

The conversation will be on June 25 from 6-7:30 p.m. in the meeting room at the Hood River Library, 502 State St. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. All are welcome.

Facilitator Chisao Hata will explore what perspectives shaped participants’ understanding of American identity and who is included in “We the People.” Through conversation and nonverbal exploration, participants will share what “American” means to them as individuals and as members of Gorge communities.

Hata is a performing artist, educator, and arts integration specialist. Known as a “community weaver,” she has had the honor of serving hundreds of Portland’s children, youth, and adults across  many communities. With family roots in Hood River Valley, she brings her years of experience in facilitation, community engagement and artistic collaboration to this conversation. Chisao believes we are all inextricably linked, and the power of gathering is a conduit to build and heal our understandings between our communities.
