City and Port plan to install parking meters on waterfront

TRADITIONAL coin-style meters are still common in downtown Hood River, though many were replaced in 2008 and 2014 as part of the urban renewal projects on Oak and State streets. Parking fees are scheduled to increase to $1 per hour later this year.

No formal action has yet been taken, but it looks like parking meter fees will rise to $1 per hour, from 75 cents, as early as this summer.

And by 2017, look for many areas of the waterfront currently without meters to be parking fee sections.
