That means the annual natural floral cycle is hitting its peak throughout Hood River Valley’s world-class orchards, and it also means a long list of community events to happen when visitors are thronging to the Gorge to witness the blossom spectacle. The blossoms are well on their way in the lower-elevation areas around Hood River, hitting their stride higher up around Odell, and will soon arrive in the upper valley.
Here is the list of this weekend’s Blossom Time events:
April 20 — Farm Film Fest, 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Rockford Grange. “Sustainable.” Soup at 5:30 p.m., film at 6:30 p.m. with discussion afterwards. Suggested donation $10.
April 20-22 — Gorge Artists Open Studio Tour, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Gorge-area studios. Free, all ages. Visit 41 artists in their studios. Maps and info at www.gorgeartists.org.
April 21 — Hard-Pressed Cider Fest, noon-7 p.m. at 3315 Stadelman Drive, Odell. More than 25 cideries participating. Music, food for sale, kids’ area. No pets. More at hoodriver.org/cider-fest.
April 21 — Hood River Farmers’ Market, 1-4 p.m. inside at Springhouse Cellars. Local food and handmade gifts. Debit and credit cards, Veggie RX and SNAP/EBT accepted.
April 21-22 — Blossom Craft Show, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Hood River County Fairgrounds. Free parking and admission; craft and food vendors, more.
April 21-22 — Also at the Hood River County Fairgrounds, the start of a new season of regular Ranch Sorting events in the Frank Herman horse arena, with clinic at 9 a.m. and competition at 1 p.m. on April 21; free.
April 21-22 — Blossom Dinner, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Parkdale Grange, Clear Creek Road. All you-can-eat chuckwagon-style buffet includes homemade pies and desserts.
April 22 — Blossom Breakfast, 7-11 a.m. at the Rockford Station (West Side Fire Department), 4250 Barrett Road, about two miles west of the Indian Creek-Barrett Road junction. All you can eat pancakes, ham and eggs, served by firefighters and their family members.
