Big Brothers Big Sisters, Columbia Gorge Windsurfing Association join for clinic

Keith Whigham and his 10-year-old Little Brother Kaiydon, matched since June 2013, enjoy the windsurfing clinic. The pair spends a couple hours a week together enjoying activities such as drumming and various outdoor adventures.

The Columbia Gorge Windsurfing Association (CGWA) hosted Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Columbia Gorge for its annual windsurfing clinic on Saturday, July 23 at The Hook. Approximately 20 Bigs and Littles from Hood River, Wasco, and Klickitat Counties attended the event, where they learned the basics of windsurfing and took to the water to try out their skills.

This year, participants received plenty of one-on-one attention from CGWA’s junior team, who volunteered their time as clinic instructors. Little Sister Laila, age 7, had never windsurfed before, but she was a quick learner, impressing her long-time-windsurfing Big Sister Jeri.
