The Kelly Clarkson Show viewers are sad to see that a popular segment appears to have been quietly dropped in the program’s final season.
Kelly Clarkson has hosted her self-titled daytime talk show since 2019, and for years, each show opened with a “Kellyoke” segment. The fan-favorite segment saw Clarkson and her band perform various cover songs, often requested by fans, studio audience members, or the show’s guests.
Over the years, Clarkson has performed renditions of classic tracks such as Phil Collins’ “Take Me Home,” Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody,” Tina Turner’s “What’s Love Got to Do with It,” and many others, including remixes of her own hit records.
However, the currently airing final season has seen Clarkson scale back on her “Kellyoke” performances. While she did perform on Monday’s (May 11) show, singing “Austin (Boots Stop Workin’)” by Dasha, this was the first since the April 30 episode, where she sang her own song, “Cruel.” Before that, her last “Kellyoke” performance was on the April 20 show.
Fans have noticed the scaling back of “Kellyoke” and have taken to social media to share their disappointment. “No new Kellyoke?” wrote one Reddit user earlier in the season. “So this is what, the third week of the new season? She’s already recycling old Kellyokes… Doesn’t bode well for the rest of the season.”
“I went to a taping a few days ago and it was a recycled Total Eclipse of the Heart,” said another.
“It’s incredible how they got us used to not expecting Kellyoke every day,” wrote one X user.
Another added, “So disappointed in the taping of @KellyClarksonTV today. No Kellyoke.”
However, others defended Clarkson and the show, with many explaining why the American Idol winner might have scaled back on the segment.
“She’s shared the behind the scenes of these, and how long they take to make. It’s possible things just got delayed,” said one Reddit commenter.
“I saw her this time last year and she didn’t do one and apologized and said she has really bad allergies in New York. Could also play a part,” another added.
“I was wondering if she’s saving her voice for the last few dates of her residency in November,” another wrote, referring to Clarkson’s residency shows in Las Vegas.
Another said, “She’s dealing with a lot. She’s human. You can’t expect her to sing a new song every day.”
“I mean… she’s had some personal stuff with her ex husband passing. I’m sure she’s trying to juggle life right now. Cut her some slack,” wrote one fan.
Clarkson announced back in February that her talk show would end after this current season. In a statement, she explained how she wants to “prioritize” her children following the passing of their father, her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock, who died in August 2025 at 48.
“I am forever grateful and honored to have worked alongside the greatest band and crew you could hope for, all the talent and inspiring people who have shared their time and lives with us, all the fans who have supported our show, and to NBC for always being such a supportive and incredible partner,” the singer wrote.
“Because of all of that, this was not an easy decision, but this season will be my last hosting The Kelly Clarkson Show. Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives,” she added.
