Spring is a fascinating time; sometimes you can just taste it, with strange results. Vincent Spiker, 11 months, reacts to a tickly surprise while sitting on the Georgiana Smith Gardens lawn in Thursday’s prime afternoon. Vincent had watched his mother, Cassie, show him how to blow on a dandelion, so when Vincent took his turn he put it in his mouth — which made mother and son both laugh. Dandelions might get knocked around by rains this weekend as cooler, wetter weather is forecast in the Gorge, though things should stay dry for Saturday’s Earth Day events starting at 9 a.m. at Waterfront Park. They include an opening ceremony, 11 a.m. Procession of the Species, a march organized by the HRVHS Climate Change Club, Fuel the Future Fair at 6th and State, and clean-up projects.
