“We’re coming next week!”

Excited over the adventure

And the telling of it.

My husband’s mother is eighty-two

And traveling halfway across the country

Gives her no fear, only joy.

She’s had a lifetime of hard work

But, always found joy.

She radiates sunshine!

I love this woman,

My husband’s mother.

My friend.

Night Has Fallen

In the western sky,

Between two tall pines,

A single bright star shines

Above the mountain horizon.

Through the pines

A sliver of moon

Rests on its backside.

Streaks of dark clouds

Float on a charcoal sky.

The birds are silent

Sitting on their nests.

Night has fallen

And the earth sleeps.
