Logan
PicasaThis week volunteers at Adopt A Dog have selected Logan as the program’s adoptable pet of the week:
Logan is about 2 years old, likely Spaniel and Boxer mix ... maybe some Great Dane in there? He’s got a big underbite, which is kind of funny because he tries really hard to fit as many tennis balls in that mouth of his as he can, but the teeth don’t make it easy!
Logan is a superb example of what family pets are all about. He is gentle and loving, devoted, playful, great with kids, really tolerant of little puppies climbing all over him and very friendly with other dogs, but he’s got a flaw. Yep, just one.
He showed up at the Humane Society up in Washington State with a broken femur — he was probably hit by a car — so they did surgery and it went very well, but they had to remove part of the bone, so now he walks and runs like his chassis is out of alignment. Some call it his swagger ... others just grin and enjoy the show!
He’s so playful and crazy about fetch that during his recovery, he tore the ACL on his other leg, so now he’s not allowed to go crazy mad and play as hard as he’d like, but he doesn’t seem to care one bit!
Logan still goes on 45 minute walks a couple of times a day, and he still looks at you with those loving eyes, and he’s just fine with how he’s turned out. And he can still play with other dogs, just not real hard, so no dog parks for him, and he’ll never be a running partner. But in exchange, he gets to be the perfect, doting family pet. He promises to make everyone in the family boast they’ve got the best dog EVER!

Logan is housetrained, current on shots, microchipped and neutered. The adoption fee for Logan is $150.
The fee to adopt is charged to recoup standard veterinary expenses. Since many of our dogs are in foster, please call ahead to meet Logan in Odell at the Hukari Animal Shelter, 3910 Heron Drive, or call for more information at 541-354-1083. Adoption hours are Wednesday, 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, 9-11 a.m.
