This Friday, March 8, from 5:30-8 p.m., Parkdale Elementary School students, faculty and PTO members are inviting the community to come out and join in the fun at their carnival, their biggest annual fundraiser.
Food from Michoacan restaurant in Odell will be sold from 5:30-7 p.m. at the carnival and game booths will run from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.
Raffle tickets are being sold for $1 with many prizes, including an overnight at Collins Lake Resort, a Lost Lake Resort boat rental, a Cooper Spur Resort condo stay for eight, Sternwheeler cruise tickets, Logsdon Organic Farmhouse Brewery tour and tasting, Big Winds SUP lesson, Parkdale Fire and Rescue ride-along, coffee, toys, multiple restaurant gift certificates and more.
Tickets may be purchased from Parkdale students or PTO members, at the school office or at the carnival.
Proceeds from the carnival help to sponsor extra academic and fitness programs, assemblies, field trips, the SMART reading program and classroom supplies for the students.
It’s not too late for you or your business to donate a raffle item. You can either bring it to the Parkdale Elementary School office or contact PTO member Sarah Wilson at 541-352-9303 to arrange for pickup.
If students are successful at selling 4,000 tickets they will get to “Icky Sticky” Principal Kim Vogel: think syrup feathers and shredded paper.

This is a reminder to parents that this week is Kindergarten Round-Up at Parkdale Elementary for children who will turn 5 on or before Sept. 1.
Be sure to bring your child’s birth certificate and immunization record to register.

Breakfast for the community will be served March 10 from 7:30-11:30 a.m. at Parkdale Grange Hall. Grange members are serving up a hearty breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage, pancakes or biscuit with gravy, applesauce and a beverage.
Come visit your friends and neighbors and enjoy breakfast that you don’t have to cook for $6 for adults and $4 for children 5-12. Children under 4 eat free.

The Upper Valley Home Extension group will be meeting Thursday, March 14, at 10 a.m. at the Grange Hall.
The topic for this month’s meeting will be Grandma and Grandpa fraud scams and identity theft, and attendees will learn how to protect their identity and their assets.
The meeting is open to the public.

Community members are asked to save the date of April 13 for the Mt. Hood Town Hall’s annual Enchanted Evening fundraiser.
This year’s theme is titled “Seasons of the Upper Valley.” Details in the next column.
