Many residents of Hood River last Saturday morning, heard with regret of the sudden death of Burton Emory Cobb, for 24 years a businessman of this city and for a number of years member of the city council. Funeral services were held at the Anderson Funeral Home on Monday of this week, the Masonic lodge having charge of the ritual. Interment was in Lincoln Memorial Park Mausoleum at Portland. Mr. Cobb, who was 65 years old, was born in Allendale, Mich. on January 12, 1879, and came to Hood River 24 years ago. He operated the business now owned by Sprouse-Reitz. When he retired, he took up operation of his westside ranch, and it was after a hard days work last Friday that he went to the sleep which knowns no awakening. He was a member of the Elks and Mason orders. — Hood River News, July 14, 1944
