HOOD RIVER — On the western side of Hood River is the Post Canyon Recreation Area, an expansive network of trail systems for mountain bikers, hikers and specified motorized vehicles. The land is on the Hood River County Tree Farm, run by the Forestry Department, which generates around 30% of the county’s budget from timber sales.

Hood River County and Hood River Area Trail Stewards (HRATS) have worked in tandem to improve, expand and introduce additional trails specifically for mountain bikers through a Recreation Trails Program Grant, a federally funded program administered by the Oregon Parks and Recreation Department.
