Last week’s mystery proved to show two Native American people posing in front of The Dalles Bridge (not dam) in its early stages.  “...the bridge pilings in the background looked to me to be a shot of The Dalles Bridge being built. The bridge came in before the dam. Originally the bridge was to end / start near the area what is the present day Oregon State Police office. The Corps of Engineers started to work on the dam and asked if the bridge could be built a little further to the west. That is why the bridge has a curve in it when it nears the Oregon shoreline,” Gary Elkinton wrote.

How about this week’s image, above? Reprinted courtesy of Columbia Gorge Discovery Center and taken in the late 1900s by Gladys Seufert, it shows some stuff that ain’t there anymore. Please send memories to Flora Martin Gibson at florag@gorgenews.com or 541-993-1801, and we’ll print what we learn next week! Happy fact-hunting!
