"The Giving Tree" was donated for the Festival of Trees by the Honald Family in memory of Gary Honald. The tree was decorated with mural depictions, benches, lampposts, trade center pins, Santa and his sleigh, all honoring Honald, who was instrumental in bringing these things to The Dalles, according to the family. The event was sponsored by Columbia Bank, and beneficiaries of the Mid-Columbia Health Foundation fundraiser included the Breast Health for Strong Families program, The Celilo Cancer Center fund and the Level the Playing Field project at The Dalles High School.
