Entertainment Update for Nov. 2

This delightful afternoon concert benefits United Way of the Columbia Gorge, which this year allocated $155,000 to 40 agencies, helping people in need in our community. Tony Marcus plays Nov. 7

On Thursday, Nov. 7, Hood River has an opportunity to hear Tony Marcus, a “longtime presence on the San Francisco Bay Area acoustic music scene.” From a start playing traditional folk music in his first band with Laurie Lewis and Kate Brislin, to the jazzier sounds of more recent years (Leftover Dreams, Cats & Jammers) Tony has mastered the guitar, violin and other stringed instruments — as well as contributing strong vocals. Tony has played with some big names, including Kate Wolf, Geoff Muldaur and the Cheap Suit Serenaders. Music starts at 7 p.m. at 401 Montello, Hood River; 541-387-4011.

Countryside Ride in Trout Lake

Countryside Ride Band, a Northwest classic country/western and roots-style honky-tonk band, will be at the historic Trout Lake Inn on Saturday, Nov. 16, starting at 8 p.m. Portland band Copper & Coal opens the show with its “tight harmonies, soaring pedal steel and fiddle, and a deep respect for the country tradition of the ’40s and ’50s” sound. This fun-filled, all-ages event is where you can don your favorite cowboy boots, kick up your heels and dance to classic country music. $5 admission. Food Drive at Maryhill Museum

Maryhill Museum of Art is asking visitors to lend a helping hand to food banks in Klickitat County on Saturday, Nov. 2. For every two non-perishable food items that a visitor contributes, they will receive one free museum admission. It’s the museum’s way of saying thanks and is a great way to squeeze in one last visit to the museum before it closes for the season after Nov. 15. Saturday, Nov. 2: Lewi Longmire & The Left Coast Roasters 9:30 p.m. – roots-rockin’ jam master Lewi Longmire has worked with national acts Michael Hurley, Victoria Williams, Blue Giant, the Minus 5 and Tara Jane O'Neill as well as local luminaries Little Sue, Casey Neill, the Freak Mountain Ramblers and The Peasants.
