Class notes: Johnson graduates from Lewis & Clark

Nicholas Cooper makes Dean’s List

Central Oregon Community College (COCC) has named Nicholas Cooper, of Hood River, to the winter-term Dean’s List. The COCC Dean’s List is based on enrollment of 12 or more credits and a term GPA of 3.60 or higher.

Ellie Rinella featured in student anthology

Horizon Christian School fifth grader Ellie Rinella has been selected as a contributing author in the 2016 edition of “Honoring Our Rivers: A Student Anthology.” She has been invited to read her poem, “Nature’s Masterpiece,” at Powell’s Bookstore in Portland on May 22 at 4 p.m. in the Pearl Room.

Her poem is as follows:

Nature’s Masterpiece

Whistling peaks,

Beautiful creeks,

Trees and birds galore,

Rolling streams,

Shiny light beams

Leave me asking

for more.

The clear blue sky

catches my eye,

But the ripple of

water does, too

Is it the whispering

wind

Who’s a comforting

friend,

Or the clogged up

water in my shoe?
