The fourth-annual Hood River Harvest Ride took place Sept. 29 in gorgeous weather, reports coordinator Peter Cornelison.
Just a day earlier wildfire smoke cloaked the Hood River Valley and the entire eastern Gorge giving ride organizers concern, but just as forecast the west wind came up Friday afternoon/evening and blew the smoke east.
A total of 330 participants rode in the event and came back to the fairgrounds bubbling with excitement over the ride and the beauty of the valley, according to Cornelison.
The Hood River Harvest Ride raises funds for the Hood River Valley Residents Committee, which is one of the oldest land use organizations in the state and works to protect precious farm and forest lands by promoting wise land use practices through advocacy, monitoring and education.
