THE GORGE — The snow has begun and is wet and slushy, making the roads slick and dangerous to drive on. There have been many car accidents today due to the weather conditions. A wind advisory is in effect in White Salmon and The Dalles until Dec. 19, and a flood watch, increasing to a warning is in effect in Hood River and the Klickitat River which will both last until Dec. 20. The weather is still warmer than usual despite the snow, with highs in the mid-40s to low 50s, and lows in the mid-30s. All warnings from yesterday continue, and people should be aware of their specific weather warnings which can be found at the National Weather Service.

As of this afternoon, three emergency declarations are in effect: Skamania County, Wasco County and Hood River County. These declarations open avenues for state and federal support.
