THE DALLES - The Dalles resident Mary Hanlon will be inducted into the Portland Interscholastic League Hall of Fame on Nov. 8 for her success in cross country and in track and field.Â
Hanlon is a 1980 graduate of Lincoln High in Portland. She was a state champion in Class AAA (the state’s largest classification at the time) cross country her sophomore year. She was part of four Cardinal cross country teams which won state meet trophies, including first place in 1978.
In track and field, Hanlon was a six-time state placer in distance running events and a two-time placer in relays. In 1980, Lincoln’s mile relay won the state meet, clinching the girls team championship for the school.
The 2026 induction dinner, where 36 former Portland high school sports standouts will be honored, is Nov. 8 at the Lloyd Center DoubleTree by Hilton. A no-host social hour begins at 3:30 p.m., with dinner at 4:30 p.m. This is the 37th class to be inducted into the PIL Hall of Fame, which was formed in 1981.
