ROWENA — 6:30 p.m. — Sparked on Wednesday afternoon, the Rowena Fire has drawn attention around the state. Structural firefighters and an incident management team has been dispatched to the Gorge at the direction of Oregon Governor Tina Kotek and the Oregon State Fire Marshal (OSFM).
According to a release from the OSFM, Kotek used the Emergency Conflagration Act to mobilize resources around the state.
Below are the current evacuation levels:
LEVEL 3 GO NOW:
Rowena Ferry Rd east to From 5500 Hwy 30.
5500 block of Highway 30 to Discovery Rd.
Seven Mile Hill Rd to Mountain View Dr., south to Chenowith Creek Rd and Browns Creek Rd., east to W 7th St.
Level 2 - Set - Evacuation Warning
Snipes, west to Chenoweth Loop Rd., Chenowith Creek Rd, to Browns Creek Rd.
Level 1 - Ready - Evacuation Advisory

Interstate 84 from Rowena to milepost 82 will remain closed until further notice. Be advised that the Hood River-White Salmon Bridge and SR14 in Washington is experiencing higher than normal traffic as travelers look to avoid the fire.
The Gloria Center is available as a temporary shelter until 8 p.m. and The Dalles Middle School is also providing shelter. For more information, visit the Wasco County Sheriff's Facebook page.

3:40 p.m. -- The Gloria Center (2505 W 7th St, The Dalles, OR 97058) will serve as a temporary shelter until 8 p.m. tonight and The Dalles Middle School will be open at 4:30 p.m. as a temporary shelter, per Wasco County Sheriff's Office.

2:30 p.m. -- According to the Hood River County Sheriffs Office (HRCSO) I-84 has now been closed in both directions from milepost 62 (east of Hood River) to milepost 82 (west of The Dalles).
There have been reports of multiple fires in Washington along Highway 14. According to the HRCSO two fires near Hot Spring Rd. and Bergen Rd. are affecting travel.

A vegetation fire as seen from Lyle has prompted Level 2 and 3 evacuation levels near Mayer State Park along I-84.Â

2:07 p.m. -- A vegetation fire was reported along Interstate 84 at approximately 1:30 p.m. between Mosier and The Dalles. It is unclear how large the fire is and emergency responders are enroute.
Level 3 GO NOW evacuation orders have been issued for Highway 30 east of Mayer State Park. Level 2 evacuation orders have been given for homes along the Columbia River Highway and I-84 between Rowena and exit 82 in The Dalles. See the evacuation areas here.

According to witnesses, law enforcement has shut down the on-ramp in Hood River exit 64 and have requested I-84 be closed as well.Â
Beckley took them around 1:45pm today, June 11,2025, while traveling westbound between The Dalles and Hood River (just east of Hood River).
