Search volunteers climb Mount Hood.

MOUNT HOOD — On Jan. 27, searchers recovered the body of a hiker on Mount Hood. The hiker was reported overdue on Sunday, Jan. 26, and ground and air search assets were utilized to locate and recover the hiker.

On Jan. 26 at approximately noon, family called in to report that 38-year-old Robert Tveite of Portland was overdue in returning from a day hike the previous day. According to family, Tveite set out from the Tilly Jane trailhead and was planning to hike the Cooper Spur trail, returning that same afternoon.
