PARKDALE — The Parkdale Bicentennial Memorial Garden has been in existence for over 60 years when the Parkdale Garden Club and the community of Parkdale worked together to remove an eyesore and create a wonderful garden. It has become not only an oasis of beauty within the community, but provides a relaxing environment and some education of the history and the contents of the garden. Unfortunately, the garden is showing its age, and the irrigation system has become labor intensive, cumbersome, inefficient, and requires a great deal of maintenance. It is time to replace the system.Â
A new irrigation system is costly and the Parkdale Garden Club, in conjunction with the Parkdale Grange and the Central Gorge Master Gardeners Association, are raising funds to take on this project. Grant applications have been submitted, bake sales have been conducted, and a yard sale and a St. Patrick’s Day dinner are scheduled to take place.Â
The yard sale will be held on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 21-22Â from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. each day at the Parkdale Grange, 7375 Clear Creek Road. Donations of items will be accepted on Thursday, Nov. 20 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., or call Nancy Slagle at 541 352-4156 for an alternate date and time.Â
Please join us for this event. Cash donations are also gladly accepted.
