FINAL UPDATE: White Salmon Valley Superintendent Rich Polkinghorn reported that, at 11:28 a.m. today, the lockdown was lifted for WPSIS, Henkle and Columbia students. "In consultation with law enforcement, we have determined that it is safe to come out of the lockdown," Polkinghorn said via press release. "Out of an abundance of caution, law enforcement will maintain a visible presence on campus throughout the remainder of the school day."
He reiterated that students are safe.

WHITE SALMON — White Salmon Valley School District (WSVSD) has placed three of its schools on lockdown this morning. Superintendent Rich Polkinghorn said a threat of harm was called into Klickitat County Dispatch, directed at students at Henkle Middle and Columbia High School, at approximately 9:13 a.m.
“Out of an abundance of caution, our school administration quickly implemented our safety procedures and initiated a ‘lockdown’ at WPSIS, Henkle and Columbia,” said Polkinghorn's press release. “Law enforcement arrived within minutes and are working with school administration … to determine the credibility of the threat.”
Polkinghorn provided an update at 10:10 a.m., saying, “Students are safe in their schools.” The three remain in lockdown, and the investigation is ongoing. Another update is expected by 10:45 a.m.
