The final February history forum program takes place at the Granada Theatre.
Photo courtesy Chuck GomezTHE DALLES — The next 2025 Original Courthouse Regional History Forum will take place Feb. 22 at 12:30 p.m. at the Granada Theater.
Co-owners Chuck and Debra Gomez have restored the art deco theater into a performing arts venue. A band appearing the evening of Feb. 22 necessitated the earlier starting time for the history program, said a press release.
The afternoon session covers the history of the first theater west of the Mississippi designed for the “talkies,” a review of current and future community functions and national acts taking place there, and a tour of the vintage venue located at Second and Washington streets in The Dalles.
Admission is free, with donations accepted.
The final program is a rescheduling of what would have been held Feb. 15 if not for inclement weather: “Joseph Brown, Jewish Merchant: Buried Outside the Fence,” will take place Saturday, March 1. It begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Original Wasco County Courthouse, 410 W Second Place, The Dalles.
