Fish Passage and Forest Roads talk — Hood River Watershed Group will share results from a recently completed forest road inventory that identified Forest Service Road segments that pose risks to watershed health in a free presentation at Working Hands, 1021 12th St., Hood River, on Tuesday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m. In addition, the Forest Service will share highlights of fish passage projects from the past 20 years, including the recently completed Bear Creek Fish Passage Project. Street closures in The Dalles — Ajax Northwest will be constructing the First Street Streetscapes project along First Street from Union Street to Laughlin Street. First Street will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic, along with Court Street, Washington Street, Federal Street and Laughlin Street from the alley north to First Street. This closure will be in place 24/7 until June 11, 2027. Alley access remains open for now.
Another street closure for The Dalles — Crestline Construction has its own project starting this week. W. First Street will be closed from the Webber intersection to the Oregon Cherry Growers main entrance to facilitate the upsizing of the concrete sanitary sewer main. This closure will be in effect 24/7 for an estimated duration of 12 weeks. Access to businesses along West First will be permitted from Webber only, with a hard closure established at the southern Pepsi entrance. Customers and visitors to The Dalles Transfer Station and The Dalles Public Works Building must utilize the back entrances located off Bargeway Road.
