A new training program at CGCC will help students who are interested in obtaining a college certificate or degree but who may not have the resources, college-level reading and writing skills, or support system in place to be successful.
Beginning in fall term, 2020, students enrolled in the new Early Childhood Education (ECE) Fundamentals certificate, ECE Curriculum certificate, or working on the first year of the redesigned Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood Education degree may be eligible for Integrated Education and Training (IET).
“Integrated Education and Training” means that adult education and literacy activities are taught side-by-side with workforce preparation activities and workforce training for a specific occupation. Students who complete the program will have a college certificate and skills to enter the workforce that may give them an advantage over non-IET students.
IET students will be enrolled in their ECE classes along with an Intro to College Writing course that will be taught by a Pre-college instructor. The class provides reading and writing support. Students will also have access to funding for college expenses, access to technology resources and support with scholarships.
