HOOD RIVER — The Trauma Intervention Program Northwest (TIPNW), in collaboration with local partners, invites community members, professionals, and anyone interested in compassionate crisis response to attend the upcoming Emotional First Aid (EFA) Training Seminar on Saturday, June 21 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Best Western Plus Hood River Inn.
This 8-hour seminar offers life-changing skills to help attendees support people immediately following a traumatic event. Participants will learn how to be present and helpful in times of emotional shock, whether with friends, coworkers, clients, or even strangers.
Led by June Vining, executive director and founding volunteer of TIPNW, and nationally recognized for her leadership and crisis response training, the seminar will explore:
• What to say — and not say — after a traumatic event
• The difference between caring and curing
• Understanding emotional shock
• The TIP 5 Emotional First Aid Skills
• What people need after a sudden death
• How to give a compassionate death notification
The cost is $20 per person (significantly reduced thanks to generous donor support). To register, visit www.tipnw.org/efa-registration.
“We believe that everyone can be a source of calm and care in the midst of crisis,” said Vining. “This seminar empowers people to show up with confidence and compassion when it matters most.”
This special event is hosted by local community partners dedicated to building a more informed, resilient, and supportive region, including Mid-Columbia Center for Living, Six Rivers Dispute Resolution Center, Best Western Hood River Inn, One Community Health, Columbia River Inter-Tribal Fish Commission Police Department, Mid-Columbia Community Action Council, and Haven. Individuals or organizations interested in helping cover participant costs or supporting the event are encouraged to contact Six Rivers Dispute Resolution Center at director@6rivers.org.
