Columbia Gorge CASA's (Court Appointed Special Advocates) annual Playhouse Raffle features a custom-built playhouse designed and constructed by students at Hood River Valley High School (HRVHS), valued at $6,000.
Students in Michael Becker’s Advanced Wood and Construction class led the design and build process from start to finish. Working in teams, students first created small Styrofoam models. After careful consideration, one standout design was selected and brought to life as this year’s playhouse.

THE GORGE — Columbia Gorge CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), in partnership with Adventist Health Columbia Gorge Foundation, announces the return of its annual Playhouse Raffle, this year featuring a beautifully crafted, custom-built playhouse designed and constructed by students at Hood River Valley High School (HRVHS).
The playhouse valued at $6,000 is more than just a fun prize — it’s a powerful symbol of what happens when education, creativity, and community come together for a greater cause. Students in Michael Becker’s Advanced Wood and Construction class led the design and build process from start to finish. Working in teams, students first created small Styrofoam models. After careful consideration, one standout design was selected and brought to life as this year’s playhouse.

“We are incredibly grateful to Mr. Becker and his students for their dedication to this project,” said Christopher Janetzko, executive director of Columbia Gorge CASA. “The work these students have done helps support our program’s advocacy on behalf of the community’s most vulnerable children.”
Tum-A-Lum Lumber generously donated materials to support the students in building this year’s playhouse. The result is a sturdy and imaginative structure — perfect for children and a testament to local collaboration and generosity.
All proceeds from the raffle benefit Columbia Gorge CASA, which provides trained volunteers to advocate for abused and neglected children in Hood River, Sherman, and Wasco counties. Each raffle ticket purchased helps CASA provide advocacy for children who are involved in the child welfare system in our community.
Raffle tickets are available at www.gorgecasa.org and start at $20. The winning ticket will be drawn at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 29 during a special event at Tierra De Lobos Winery in The Dalles. The event will also be streamed live on CASA’s Instagram page. The winner does not need to be present to win and will be contacted directly by CASA.
Whether you're entering to win the playhouse for a loved one or plan to donate it to a family that would benefit, every ticket supports Columbia Gorge CASA’s mission — and honors the hard work of the HRVHS students who helped make it all possible.
