HOOD RIVER — Helping Hands Against Violence (HHAV) announces the opportunity to handover its trauma-informed community childcare program to independent management. This decision marks a significant milestone for Millie’s Place Child Care Center and the community it serves, as HHAV believes it is time for the childcare initiative to thrive on its own.
Helping Hands encourages caring individuals (who want to start their own childcare center but didn’t know where to start) or existing organizations (who want to expand their services) to contact them immediately about this opportunity to adopt a childcare center that serves up to 18 3- to 5-year-olds. HHAV will assist in ensuring a smooth transition and is committed to supporting the new operators during the handover process.
Millie’s Place Child Care Center, which was established four years ago by HHAV in response to a critical need for childcare in the Gorge, has provided a reliable and nurturing environment for children. The program has built an excellent reputation over the years, ensuring that children have access to high-quality care, learning and emotional support.
“As a community-based organization, Helping Hands Against Violence is proud of the positive impact Millie’s Place has had with so many families over the past four years; however, after careful consideration, we believe the program has reached a point where it is ready to operate independently, so that Helping Hands can focus on our original mission of supporting survivors and their families.” said Stephanie Irving, executive director of HHAV.
The childcare program has been instrumental in fostering educational development, positive social skills, and emotional well-being for the children it serves. With a solid foundation and an exceptional team of caregivers, the program is now ready to flourish on its own.
“We are confident that with the right leadership, the childcare program will continue to be a vital resource for families in the Hood River community,” said Ms. Irving. “We look forward to seeing the program reach new heights and serve even more families in the years to come.”
