OREGON — Cheers to the Land is back for its fourth year, pairing brews and ciders with a mission to safeguard Oregon’s threatened farmland. Kicking off on October 10, this campaign by Oregon Agricultural Trust (OAT) invites you to enjoy 18 new craft beverages that feature Oregon-grown ingredients.
Ferment Brewing in Hood River is participating in the campaign.
Thanks to sponsors, the campaign features 15 breweries and three cideries. Seven of these will debut in limited-edition 16 ounce cans with unique Cheers to the Land artwork in select bottle shops and grocery stores.
All Cheers to the Land brews will be available on tap at participants’ respective taprooms beginning Oct. 10.
Oregon Agricultural Trust’s goals are to permanently protect Oregon farmland from development and to keep farmers farming. The average age of Oregon farmers and ranchers is 60, and less than 20% of landowners have a succession plan. Between 2017-2022, Oregon lost 5.5% of its farms and 4% of its farmland. In response to this crisis, OAT has protected more than 29,000 acres of farm and ranch land so far, and has 64 projects in the hopper that would protect another 215,000 acres. OAT also educates 1,000 farmers each year and consults with 40 farms each year on succession planning.
