Ryan Combelic scored two rushing touchdowns last Saturday at CHS Stadium and a tough defense preserved the lead as White Salmon Black won its second game of the 2004 Gorge Youth Football League season.
Combelic found the end zone from 5 yards away in the first quarter, then ran one in from 46 yards in the second quarter after Sebastian Mael intercepted a pass to snuff out a The Dalles White drive.
Alex Contreras kicked the conversion for two points to give the Black a 14-0 lead that stood for the rest of the game.
White Salmon's defense made sure of that with a defensive effort that was led by Combelic, Mael, Phil McMillen and Tyler Garwood.
White Salmon coach Bill Ward credited Garwood with making several key tackles.
Other defensive highlights were turned in by Austin Rabinowitz, who batted down a pass, and; Kristien Contreras, who forced a fumble recovered by Jose Briones. McMillen also had a fumble recovery for the Black (2-1).
Offensive standouts for White Salmon included Dylan Rabinowitz, Tobin Kelly and Josh Mayer running the ball.
