Now that cold weather has returned to the Gorge, it's time again to "Warm up With Wine" at the Inn of the White Salmon.
Last year's events were so popular, the Inn's owners, David and Dennice Dierck, have decided to bring back the series of wine tastings.
For $10 admission you get to sample local wines, listen to Gorge musicians, and enjoy appetizers and good company. It is a chance to visit with other community members as well as meet travelers staying at the Inn.
On select Saturdays, from 5-7 p.m., this year's dates will be Nov. 15 and 29; Dec. 13, Jan. 10 and 24, Feb. 14 and 28; and March 14 and 28.
On Dec. 13, the Inn will be featuring Gluhwein (German spiced wine). Prior to the wine tasting Santa Claus will be stopping by the Inn from 2:30-4:30. Bring your cameras and kids, and get a picture with the jolly man while enjoying a cup of hot chocolate and a candy cane.
There is no charge to visit with Santa, but a non-perishable food item to donate to the local food bank would be appreciated.
At the two January tastings, local winemaker Joel Goodwillie of Wind River Cellars will be teaching "Everything You Wanted to Know About Wine (but were afraid to ask)." Admission to the wine tasting will also buy you a chance to learn something new.
