St. Mark's Episcopal Church hosts "In Turbulent Times: A Lenten Series," beginning today from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at the church, 11th and Eugene streets in Hood River. The series continues every Wednesday through March 20.
Tonight, the Most Rev. Edmond L. Browning, Presiding Bishop of the U.S. Episcopal Church from 1986-98, will present the first in the Lenten series, "The Holy Land: History of Conflict, Seeking Reconciliation."
On March 6, Patti S. Browning presents "The Holy Land: Observations of a Recent Visitor." Browning is recipient of the Peacemaker Award from the Diocese of Washington, D.C., for her ongoing commitment to peace in the Middle East.
On March 13, the series continues with "Anglican Identity: Looking Inward, Looking Outward, Finding Ourselves," by the Rt. Rev. William O. Gregg, Bishop of Eastern Oregon.
The series winds up March 20 with "A Case Study in Theological Rigidity: Experiences with the Anglican Mission in America," by the Rev. Canon Kelsey G. Hogue, Bishop's representative to western Colorado.
