WSDOT Aviation has announced that 27 Washington airports, including one in Goldendale and one in Dallesport, will receive a total of $1.035 million in Airport Aid Grants, representing 38 different construction projects.
Over 85% of the grants are directed toward pavement preservation projects
Full-length runway overlays are planned for 3 of the 8 airports identified as "threatened" last year. Two of the 6 airports identified as "at risk" last year will also receive overlays.
WSDOT will distribute 90 percent of the grants to smaller airports that are ineligible for federal funding. WSDOT has also successfully leveraged federal dollars, using $127,000 in state funds to match over $4 million in FAA grants.
Specificially, Goldendale and The Dalles will receive state Airport Aid Grants this year. Goldendale Airport's $118,025 grant is for access road and parking. The Dalles Airport's $18,000 grant is for water/sewer line extension.
WSDOT Aviation's Airport Aid Grant Program is funded through state aviation fuel and registration revenues.
