Swimmer Shortt goes to Nationals

Former Hood River Valley High School swimmer Caitlyn Shortt has qualified for the U.S.A. Swimming Summer Nationals Meet. At U.S.A. Swimming Spring Nationals in Indianapolis, Ind., April 1-5, Shortt took 16th in the 200 IM, 26nd in the 200 breaststroke; 22nd in 400 IM, and 46th in 100 breaststroke. Shortt, 17, competed with between 74 to 108 swimmers in the events. Summer Nationals will be in College Park, Md., in August. She is also preparing to compete at the Olympic Trials in June 2004 at a new 15,000-seat complex in Long Beach, Calif.
