White Salmon athletes helped their respective teams win titles at the second annual Great Northwest Athletic Conference Indoor Championships Feb. 19 in Nampa, Idaho.
Adam Neff had three top-eight finishes for Western Washington's men and ran the lead-off leg for the Vikings' third-place 4x400-meter relay team.
The sophomore sprinter placed second in the 400-meter dash (50.27 seconds), eighth in 200 (23.30) and eighth in the 100.
Kristin Janney posted three top-eight finishes for the Seattle Pacific women.
The sophomore multi-event specialist took third in the 60-meter hurdles (9.18), sixth in the long jump (16 feet, 6.5 inches) and eighth in the 200 dash (26.71).
In Moscow, Idaho, Eastern Oregon junior Chelsy Wheelhouse finished 12th in the shot put and 14th in the weight throw at the McDonald's Open indoor meet.
The Glenwood High School graduate tossed the shot 32 feet, 8 inches and the weight 41-3.75.
Prep Girls Basketball:
La Center and Woodland advanced to the championship game of the S.W. Washington District 4 2A tournament with opening-round and semifinal victories last week.
The Trico Division co-champions cruised in their tourney openers, with La Center routing Tenino, 70-27, and Woodland manhandling Forks, 72-37.
Ridgefield kept its state tourney hopes alive, despite a semifinal loss to La Center. Ridgefield beat Hoquiam, 53-35, in its first-round game.
Hockinson overcame a 62-47 first-round loss to Elma, defeating Forks to stay in contention for one of the district's four state playoff berths.
