Skamania Co. looking to fill four posts on planning board

Residents of North Bonneville, Skamania, Mt. Pleasant, Prindle, Skye and the Upper Washougal area are eligible to apply. The east-end position is open to residents of Underwood, Willard, Mill A, Cook, Home Valley and a portion of Carson. The at-large position covers residents living in unincorporated Skamania County.

Planning Commission members serve four-year terms, and must be a county resident at time of appointment. Position requirements include ability to attend meetings on first and third Tuesday of each month, and special meetings as necessary.

Anyone residing in the areas listed above and who is interested in serving the community on the Planning Commission is encouraged to send a letter of interest and a brief statement about qualifications.

"Serving on the Planning Commission offers Skamania County residents an extraordinary opportunity to participate in the county's governmental affairs," said Karen Witherspoon, director of the county's Community Development Department. "The most important qualification for serving is an interest and a willingness to serve."

Letters of interest will be accepted by the Community Development Department, 170 NW Vancouver, Stevenson, until 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 25. For more information, call 509-427-3900.
