Want to discover the secrets of the magnificent forest ecosystem right here in the Gorge? Are you curious about the plants and animals that live in those shady, green worlds?
Here is your chance to learn from the experts and to share your knowledge of local ecosystems with local elementary students.
The SECRETS of Learning Institute will be offering the SECRETS of Our Forest Home volunteer training and speaker series on Monday evenings from 6 to 9 p.m., beginning March 11.
The training workshops will be held at the Bethel Congregational Church in White Salmon.
A $10 materials fee will be payable at the first class.
Throughout the seven-session course, participants will learn about local forest ecosystems from botanists, geologists, fisheries scientists and other local experts.
The Institutes' teaching team will explain how the weekly concepts are taught to elementary-age students, and give new volunteer teachers a chance to cultivate teaching skills while practicing what they've learned.
Volunteers are invited to serve as classroom instructors, working side-by-side with experienced SECRETS of Learning institute staff members.
To register for the volunteer training and speaker series or for more information on the program , call (541) 387-2274.
